Transocean contracted Vertech UK to mobilise a dive team to the Island of Lewis to assist with installation of temporary floatation & rigging on the Pontoons of the Transocean Winner. This would enable the Rig to be raised to a shallower draught allowing the Heavy Lift Vessel “Hawk” access to be correctly located to support the weight of the drill rig for future transit for final decommissioning.
Due to the urgent nature of the situation, Vertech mobilised all personnel and equipment to Lewis within only 48hrs notice.
The team mobilised utilising the containerised system from NDS02, Dive control and Deck Decompression Chamber (DDC). The DDC was set up and located onshore with the Dive Control container and associated gases mobilised to the Multi-Cat barge Forth Warrior.
The project was safely executed within 10 days where the drill rig was supported on the HLV. The equipment and Dive team were then de-mobilised back to Aberdeen.
